JAMES G. McPHERSON

Jim received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 1966. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto in 1970. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1972 and joined the firm in 1999.

Jim provides consulting services to the firm in the areas of domestic and international business development. His experience in corporate/commercial law and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures in the communications, transportation and healthcare industries gives him particular expertise assisting Canadian companies carrying on business abroad and international organizations doing business in Canada.

Jim was formerly the Secretary of Lawyers Associated Worldwide, a network of law firms with over 70 members in 80 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific Region (see link under “Lawyers Associated Worldwide”). He is also past-Chairman of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce and a former director of the Ontario Share and Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Jim is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute and of the Ultralight Pilots Association of Canada and a dedicated international traveler.
