PETER R. WELSH

Peter received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McMaster University in 1969. He then obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1972. He was called to the Bar of New Brunswick in 1973 and the Bar of Ontario in 1977. Peter received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in 1975. He joined the firm as counsel in 2000.

Peter's practice at the firm focuses on banking and financial services with an emphasis on financing transactions, asset securitization and corporate recoveries. He acts for financial institutions, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs as well as private and public companies and not-for-profit organizations.

Peter's diverse background includes assignments in the public sector as a Special Advisor to the Ministry of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, Canada and in industry as Associate General Counsel of one of Canada's largest real estate developers. He has also lectured in business law at two colleges and published material on franchise law, corporate governance and directors' and officers' liabilities.

Peter is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He is a past President and Chairman of the Board of The Boulevard Club Limited and a member of the Toronto Board of Trade, the Ontario Racquet Club and Devil's Pulpit Golf Association.
