From 10 to 12 February David Gray attended the International Franchising Association's annual convention in Orlando, Florida.

On 2 February the annual Aylesworth Lawyers Dinner was held at the Gardiner Museum. The evening began with tours of the museum's traditional and contemporary ceramic collection.

January 2008

Susan Robins co-authored the article "Valuation of Intangible Assets in Franchise Companies and Multinational Groups: A Current Issue" published in the American Bar Association's Winter 2008 Franchise Law Journal.

On 22 January David Gray took part in a panel discussion on "Business and Franchise" at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on the topic of "Current News in Franchising".

On 12 and 13 January David Gray exhibited at The National Franchise & Business Opportunities Show held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

In January Edmund Reid, the Firm's Manager of Information Systems, joined the Board of Directors of the Toronto Law Office Management Association (TLOMA) as the 2008 vice-president. TLOMA is a not-for-profit organization for law firm managers and administrators that provides support through educationn, networking and development.

December 2007

At Aylesworth toys and non-perishable food items were place under our Christmas tree and then donated to the Salvation Army for distribution to needy families. This year the Firm's annual Christmas donation was made to the Daily Bread Food Bank and to the Calmeadow Foundation.

November 2007

David Gray successfully completed the Ontario Real Estate Agent's Courses and has obtained permanent salesperson status in commercial real estate.

On 15 November the firm held a fundraising auction in support of the United Way of Greater Toronto.

October 2007

From 31 October to 3 November Marc Lean, Michael Miller and Linda Ryan attended the Lawyers Associated Worldwide Annual General Meeting held in Lucerne, Switzerland. The meeting was hosted by hosted by Grueninger Hunziker Roth.

In the October issue of Fashion Magazine, Paul Bain is widely quoted in the article "Art & Commerce".

September 2007

On 30 September Leonard Bosschart, Barry Munro and Tanya Walker attended the 8th Annual Day at the Races in support of The Arthritis & Autoimmunity Research Centre Foundation.

On 23 September Tanya Walker was the guest speaker at The Jamaican Canadian Association's annual Seniors' Appreciation Day Brunch.

On 18 September Leonard Bosschart and Tanyia Walker participated in The Harbour Group Partner Golf Event which was held at Blue Springs Golf Club.

On 13 September Tanyia Walker participated in the Toronto Crime Stoppers Annual Golf Tournament held at the Richmond Hill Golf Club. The tournament supports the Toronto Crime Stopper Program.

On 7 September Dan Giantsopoulos, Eric Kay, Jamie Spence and Stewart Wallace participated in the 5th Annual FOREmidable Golf Classic in Support of St. Michael's Hospital Head Injury Clinic. Aylesworth LLP was a sponsor for this event

August 2007

July 2007

On 15 July Arvinder Ahlowalia, Danika Cruickshank, Robin Desroches, Tonyia de Silva, Susie Drever, Magella Estabillo and Marni Power participated in the 13th annual Heatwave 2006, Toronto's largest beach volleyball fundraiser. This is the third year the firm has participated in this event, which raises funds for childhood cancer research at SickKids Hospital.

On 14 July Tanya Walker participated in the 1st Annual Black Heroes Golf Tournament held at the Maples of Ballantrae Golf Club. The Firm was a Bronze Sponsor for this event which raises funds for the Harry Jerome Scholarships, the Donald Moore Centre and the Justice Julius Isaac Scholarship.

On 5 July Joseph Falconeri, Eric Kay, Barry Munro, Bryan Rumble, Danika Cruickshank and Karen Currie participated in the CSRO Golf Tournament that included a Round Table Discussion which focused on Accident Benefits. Aylesworth LLP was a Signature Sponsor for this tournament.

On 1 July Tanya Walker completed the 10 km HBC Run For Canada which raised money for Canadian Olympic Athletes.

On 10, 11 and 12 May Michael Miller, Stewart Wallace and Susan Robins attended the Americas Regional Meeting of Lawyers Associated Worldwide in Vancouver, British Columbia. The meeting was hosted by the law firm of Stewart & Winch.

In the 19 March edition of Law Times; Richard Jones was quoted extensively in two articles in the special focus section on Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency.

On 19 March Darcy Davision-Roberts joined the firm to practice in the area of commercial litigation.

On 19 March Tanya Walker joined the firm to practice in the areas of commercial / civil litigation, insolvency and employment law. Tanya also defends clients and corporations with Provincial Offence Act infractions.

On 20 January the annual Aylesworth Lawyers Dinner was held at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery at Harbourfront Centre. The evening began with a tour of the current exhibition "We Can Do This Now". Paul Bain serves on the Board of the Power Plant and is on the organizing committee of the 2007 Power Ball.

On 13 and 14 January David Gray exhibited at the Canadian National Franchise and Business Opportunities Show which was held at the Canadian National Exhibition.

On 2 January 2007 the firm welcomed Richard B. Jones, M. Cath Collins, Ralph Dalgarno, Catherine Buntain Jeske, Janusz Puzniak, Savi Balladin and Melanie Williamson, who joined the firm upon the merger of Jones, Rogers LLP and Aylesworth LLP, and Susan Robins who joined the firm from PricewaterhouseCoopers to continue her practice in tax law.

On 9 November Ismail Barmania, Nadine Barmania and Eric Kay attended A Tribute To Neilson Mandela Gala Dinner in support of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The guest speakers were The Honourable William Jefferson Clinton, 42nd President of the United States; and Marc and Craig Kielburger, founders of Free The Children. Ismail Barmania is the vice-chair of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.

October 2006

On 28 and 29 October David Gray exhibited at The Franchise Show at the Toronto Congress Centre. This show is produced by the Canadian Franchise Association and is designed to let potential franchisees meet the industry’s most accomplished franchisors face-to-face.

On 25, 26, 27 and 28 October Jim McPherson, Michael Miller and Linda Ryan attended the Lawyers Associated Worldwide Annual General Meeting in Beijing, China. The meeting was hosted by RayYin & Partners PRC Lawyers. At the meeting, Jim McPherson stepped down at the end of his successful term as the Secretary of LAW and Michael Miller was appointed as one of two representatives of the Americas Region on the LAW Executive Committee. .

September 2006

On 7 June Stewart Wallace and Jim McKeon participated in the 9th Annual RBC Commercial Markets, Greater Toronto Region Charity Golf Tournament at the Woodington Lake Golf Club in support of Rose Cherry's Home for Kids and The Ontario Rett Syndrome Association.

On 7 June the Firm was a Gold Sponsor for the first annual Staffing Symposium held by the Staffing Edge. The Symposium featured a keynote speaker, various learning tracks, a CEO panel and networking opportunities. Staffing Edge Inc. is a client of Trevor Whiffen which provides staffing management technology.

On 2 June Trevor Whiffen was a panelist for a round table discussion on the topic of Professional Coaching Contracts at the 32nd Annual Sports Lawyers Association Conference in Toronto. This was the first time that this Association has held its Annual Conference Canada.

On 1 June the Firm was a Supporting Sponsor for PowerBall 8 the annual fundraiser for The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery at Harbourfront Centre. On 2, 3, and 4 May Elo Tulving-Blais attended the BioFinance 2006 conference in Toronto. This is the signature conference for the biotechnology industry in Ontario.

On 7, 8, 9, and 10 May Elo Tulving-Blais (a Registered Trademark Agent) attended the International Trademarks Association annual conference. The INTA is an educational and networking conference attended by 8000 intellectual property professionals from around the world.

On 11, 12 and 13 May Stewart Wallace, Eric Kay and Jim McKeon attended the Lawyers Associated Worldwide - Europe, Middle East and Africa Regional Meeting in Dublin, Ireland. The meeting was hosted by Amorys Solicitors of Dublin.

On 22 and 23 May Elo Tulving-Blais attended Biotech 2006 in North Carolina. North Carolina is one of USA's top three states for biotechnology business and research and thus an excellent target for collaborative alliances with Canadian biotech companies.

April 2006

On 28 April the London Knights won their conference final and as a result won the Wayne Gretzky Trophy and will now play the Peterborough Petes for the J. Ross Robertson Cup. The winner of this round will head to Monkton, New Brunswick to play in Memorial Cup Tournament in late May. Trevor Whiffen has been the Governor of the London Knights for the last two years.

On 27 April Julia Dublin was featured in the Financial Advisors - Personal Finance column in The Globe and Mail. Rob Carrick commended Julia for her efforts to help individuals get better treatment from investment advisors.

On 27 April Elo Tulving-Blais chaired a seminar on "Licensing in China: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" which took place at the Toronto Chapter of the Licensing Executive Society Luncheon Meeting.

On 20, 21 and 22 April James McPherson, Michael Miller and Sam De Caprio attended the Lawyers Associated Worldwide - Americas Regional Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The meeting was hosted by Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, & Rankin & Hubbard.

On 9, 10, 11 and 12 April Elo Tulving-Blais attended BIO 2006 in Chicago. This is the world's largest biotechnology conference and trade show with about 20,000 attendees from over 60 countries. A delegation from the Ontario government led by Premier McGuinty was also in attendance.

March 2006

On 28 March Harry Andrew traveled to London, England to attend the Spring Conference of the British American Business Council (BABC).

On 22 March Corey Levin spoke to a group of at-risk youth who are being assisted by Street Outreach Services on the subject of courtroom and business etiquette. Corey volunteers as legal counsel to Street Outreach Services.

On 12 March the London Knights capped another exciting year by winning their third straight Ontario Hockey League regular season title. They are the first team in OHL history to win the Hamilton Spectator Trophy three years in a row. As well, the Knights have been ranked No. 1 (of 59 teams) by the National Hockey League Scouts in the Canadian Hockey League. Trevor Whiffen has been the Governor of the London Knights for the last two years.

On 10 and 11 March Harry Andrew and Douglas Hendler attended the Lawyers Associated Worldwide - Great Lakes Sub-Regional Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On 8 March Ismail Barmania, Nadine Barmania, Joseph Falconeri, Barry Munro, Michael O'Brien, Danika Cruickshank, Karen Currie and Barb Sampson attended the Canadian Paraplegic Association's Knowledge Mobilization Seminar - It's Good To Be Dense. The presentation was given by Dr. Cathy Craven a physiatrist who stressed the importance of maintaining proper bone density for everyone, but particularly for women and those living with spinal cord injuries. This was the third in this series of seminars are sponsored by Aylesworth LLP.

On 2 and 4 March Michael Miller attended the Lawyers Associated Worldwide - Asia Pacific Regional Meeting in New Delhi, India. The meeting was hosted by P.H. Parekh & Co.
